About the Portland Urban Debate League

By starting our competitions in the 2019–2020 school year, Portland Urban Debate League was able to bring debate back to several area high schools where programs had not existed for decades. Even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve persevered, adapted, and thrived. Learn more about our work from our annual reports.
Announcing our expansion to middle school debate, success at state and national championships, and record student participation.
Highlights include placing second and fifth at the Urban Debate League national competition, qualifying for the state championships, and two graduates were accepted to Ivy League schools.
